2012 — New Release
This 2 disk special edition is to be released on March 2nd. Coming soon to your DVD players. I for one loved this, with an all star cast starring John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amanda Peet, Woody Harrelson and Danny Glover. Roland Emmerich the director of Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow took it to the next step with this one.
This is a great movie to see at the Saturday matinee when you have a couple of hours and some time to contemplate the world and watch some crazy graphics. Emmerich this time is going to destroy the world by shifting plates under the crust of the earth. The governments of all nations are involved in hiding it all of course but it has to leak out to a few to make the story interesting.
Watching this movie made me think for movies when I was a boy made by Irwin Allen , The Poseidon Adventure and The Towering Inferno to name a couple. I must have seen them on TV or something because I was too young to see them at the cinema or maybe the second time they released it. Back then they did that before video tapes and DVDs.
I digress, I loved these kind of thriller movies when I was a kid and still do now, if you haven’t seen it do, you will want this one for your DVD collection.
Avatar — A Blu-Ray must
I have to say without a doubt one of the best movies that have come out recently and in my opinion met the expectations of the viewer as well as James Cameron the director who also just took a whopping six Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. This is the first time he has been to the red carpet since 1997, where he won just about every award then also.
Without spoiling the movie and its plot, the story is about a marine named Jake (Sam Worthington) who is a paraplegic and wants to get use of his legs again. The army has given him a chance if he gathers intel on an indigenous people living on another planet (Pandora), the Na’vi. Needles to say Jake falls in love with a native girl, Neytiri (Zoë Saldana), and the plot thickens.
The dialog is this movie might leave a bad taste in your mouth but for me the movie was so exciting I did not notice it too much. At times the movie really is predictable however I was surprised at the ending which I always like in a movie.
I would give this movie 5 stars, for the sci-fi-action, cause James Cameron really pulled out all the stops on this one like he has so many times in the past. I would also give this movie 5 stars cause of the love story involved.
This movie also as an all star cast, you will recognize many faces. Great movie to see check it out. I will keep this post up to date as to when the DVD is released.
